Snow Be Damned! 29 Hours And Counting!!!

29 hours and counting, till Red Car Service picks me up and drives mt to the Airport. Aprox 33 hours and counting till my flight takes off, and in 35 hours I should be drinking a Manhattan in Manhattan! Snow be damned!!! I hope all the white shit melts! Everytime I've even THOUGHT of going to NYC something crazy has happened.

2001 = 9/11
2012 = Hurricane Sandy.
2013 = Snowmagedden!!!!

Let's create some sort of prayer and/or positive energy force (depending on your spiritual beliefs) and see what wecan do to melt all that flippin' snow in New York City, and the other hard hit areas. Let's see what we can do about the snow here in Guelph, Kitchener, and Toronto, while we're at it.

The above is copied directly from a Facebook post that I made. As soon as I hit "post" the oldies stream I was listening to played "Surfin' USA" by the Beach Boys! That's a dang good start on the "warm thoughts." If it's hot enough to go surfin' in the USA, then it's hot enough to melt the snow, and clear the roads. If you have an oldies station in your area with a request line, please call them and dedicate a song about summer to all the folks affected by Snowmagedden!!!

LOL on the global warming. I hear them talking about it, but the way snow's been crap-dropping all over Guelph, I'm having a very very hard time believing it!!!

And thanks! I'm going to enjoy the heck out of it. Got my wallet stuff,ed and my credit cards loaded (pre-paid cards! I love them!) and all my tickets and confirmations printed out. I'm ready for anything, except a canceled flight. If the flight is canceled y'all come visit me at the Mental Hospital, please! And bring liquor!!!

It's really hard to get excited about global warming when, on Friday alone, we got more snow in Guelph than we have for the past three years combined. When I got here in 2008, there was close to a metre of snow on the ground. Then no snow at all for years. Unfortunately, the snow crews from that year have either retired or contracted Alzheimer's because they no long have a clue how to clear the sides of the streets and sidewalks.

I think you're right about Alzheimers. I could not take the bus home from the cafe lastnight because of the snow on the sidewalks by Second Cup. Then back at home could not get out of my cab at the back because of the banks, or at the front because of the banks. Got out in the Harvey's parking lot, and had to flag someone down because the connecting sidewalk to the front door was blocked! I wish Vlad was driving. I'd probably have literally gotten a LIFT over the snowbanks!

Unfortunately I've been back since the 13th. I was only there for two days. Did you see the photos I posted in my album? I LOVED the city, and have some serious writing to do about the experience. LOL What I really need is to make enough money for my next trip down there. Much as I love living in Canada, there are some major things about NYC I like better.

-Better snow removal.
-Easier to get a taxi
-Everything's more convenient
-Taxis are cheaper

NYC makes my city of 100,000 look like a little hick town. haha My mother and husband prefer the middle of nowhere, and I'm lucky Hubby's agreed to live in Guelph (fortunately he's going blind, so with no drivers license, he understands the need to live in a city, if he wants to be able to do ANYTHING!).

I got a rude awakening the day after I got home when we were hit with the snow storm that NYC was supposed to get .Standing out behind my apartment building up to my knees in snow waiting upto 30 minutes for a taxi, because everyone else in Guelph decided to take a cab, REALLY REALLY SUCKED!!!!

I'm taking my camera, and a dozen extra batteries. Can't wait! It's going to be a blast!! Maybe I'll make enough points from views on Gather to pay for the trip! :)

Hope you have a safe trip, Leah, and good luck with ALL the snow you're gonna run into......I've heard they're getting hit really hard out East.....one place in Connecticut got 40 inches of that white stuff.....yikes! We're getting rain, rain, and more rain here...........I'll take the rain any time (as long as it doesn't freeze) over snow. Hope you have a great time, snow and all.
I have a friend who's supposed to be flying to Israel next Tuesday and has to go through Philadelphia (they're getting hit with snow there, also).......so, I'm really hoping her trip won't be cancelled.......this darn snow.....sure is a darn inconvenience!

Don't give up Leah. If our positive energy cant melt the snow book a dog sled and some skis. By hook or by crook you can get there. And when you do- concentrate on having a Wonderful Time. After your Manhattan try a Harvey Wallbanger and test the barman's knowledge of great cocktails in case you have to spend a lot of time in the hotel. Hugs xx

For all news on NY we watch the NY1 channel on our cable. It was interesting to watch their coverage during Hurricane Sandy and we were able to be informative to my husbands relatives in New York who did not have electricity and were not only in the dark... but had no way of knowing what was going on... no access to the internet.

If you don't can't see it like I can, you can access it on line and find out what you need to know.

NYC was awesome! I figured out that I can have a pretty good time over 3 days and 2 nights for $1,500. That includes flight, hotel, etc. Great way to spend the equivilent of 2 months rent in a hurry. haha

I am in Manhattan at the moment. There is still lots of snow, but everyone is out running around as usual. Bring good boots, because the streets are full of puddles. Supposed to rain tomorrow, whcich will wash a lot of it away. But the wind has stopped, and it seems to be getting warmer. You will be fine.

Thank you. I'm looking at my weather app on my iPhone, and things are looking good. Hubby's just having a smoke, and then he's going to apply a good coat of saddle soap with dubbing, to my hiking boots. They're 9 years old, and have a few cracks in them, but he said that ought to fix them.

Could be rapidly entering an ice age, but if so, still safe to the south although ice could become 2 miles thiuck at N.Y. and Chicago. Fla. TEMPERATURES WOULD ON;LY CHANGE BY 2 DEGREES f AND NORMAL OLD Chicago WEATHER WOULD BE AT Atlanta LATTITUDES. Dang it, plese pardon my struggles with this caps lock! Luv Ya! Give our best to Walker.
